Corona protocol guided Tour Hoorn

Gids Alette - Rondleiding Hoorn

There are no more Corona measures in the Netherlands and Hoorn at the moment. So we can enjoy everything that Hoorn has to offer. All catering establishments are fully open and there is more space reserved for terraces.

A big advantage of Hoorn is that the historical centre has not yet suffered from mass tourism. It is a quiet city where you can stroll undisturbed through the beautiful historic centre.

A safe tour for small and larger groups

Through a few specific measures we can enjoy a guided city walk in complete safety. Below is an overview of the things we will take into account during a guided tour:

1. Booking in advance! The guided tour is exclusively for the private group making the reservation. (So no public boarding walks!);

2. On the day of the tour we have contact in advance to check if all participants are healthy;

3. I have an audio guide system at my disposal. At the start every participant gets a receiver with which I can be clearly understood by everyone … even if we are a bit further away from each other!

4. In the route we follow I specifically take into account the wishes of the group. In doing so, I always make sure that we avoid really busy places.

The ‘Unicorn Walk’: fun for children and adults alike

The symbol of the city consists of a Unicorn holding the city coat of arms. Everywhere in the city you see these unicorns. On gable stones, as statues, on signposts and in many more places. For families with children I have specially composed the ‘Unicorn walk’. We follow a beautiful route through the historic centre where we encounter a whole series of beautiful unicorns.

At the beginning of the walk the children get a leaflet with 12 pictures of unicorns that can be found in Hoorn. Nine of these unicorns we encounter along the way. If you manage to see and cross all nine good unicorns on the way, you win a prize! But beware, if you accidentally cross a unicorn that we didn’t encounter, the prize goes to the parents.

While the children go in search of unicorns at each special place, I tell the special stories about the ancient and modern history of the city.
