City Walk Hoorn

Tailor made city walk Hoorn

Hoorn is really a walking city and has a convenient center. In the years that I live in the center of Hoorn I have discovered that Hoorn is mainly a city with many hidden beautiful places. During a city walk through Hoorn I will show you the great monuments, but I will also take you to some beautiful places that are a bit harder to find. Prior to a city walk we will discuss if there are any special wishes so we can adjust the route. A regular city walk takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Specific themed walks may take longer. It is also possible to book a full day tour. Contact me!

Thematic City Walks in Hoorn

Although Hoorn is not a big city, it never manages to see everything. So we will always have to make choices during a guided city walk. To help you with that, I have already described a number of themed walks, such as ‘The Golden Age Walk‘, ‘The Harbour Walk‘, ‘The Highlight Walk‘ and the ‘Meet The Local – Tour‘. An overview of walks can be found on the guided tours page.

Active city walk Hoorn

Do you feel like walking a bit firmer and do you like beautiful view spots? Then book the ‘active and view city walk’! I will take you through the harbour, the park and the edges of the city and you will see Hoorn at its best. We walk through the Juliana-Park to get the best view of Hoorn. Locations that we will definitely visit during this city walk are: De Roode Steen, Het Oostereiland, De main tower, De Bossu Huizen, De Oosterpoort, De Mariatoren, Het Weeshuis and much more.

Adapted city walk (also with the wheelchair!)

As a guide I have walked every street, alley, square, kolk, avenue and quay of Hoorn very often. This way I know exactly where there are obstacles and where the road is difficult to walk with a wheelchair or for people with a walking stick. Luckily most streets and alleys are very passable for wheelchair users and people who have difficulty walking. When determining the route I can make sure that we have a nice walk for everyone and that everyone can join us. It also happens that we cut the city walk into two parts. Then I make sure that halfway we pass a nice cafe or terrace where a part of the group can get off halfway. With the remaining group we continue with the last part of the walk and end up at the same café or terrace.

City Walk Hoorn with lunch or diner

It is also possible to have lunch or dinner before, during or after the city walk. There are several possibilities in Hoorn, from a star restaurant to a simple bar.

Costs

For foreign guests I always make a tour tailored to your needs. Guided tours can be extended to a full day. The costs depend on the duration of the tour, the size of the group, the mode of transport, etc. Please contact me for a quote.

Transport to Hoorn and parking

Hoorn is easily accessible by public transport. From Amsterdam it is only 32 minutes by train to Hoorn. There it stops in the center and the city walk can start right away.

Hoorn is located along the highway A7 and is easily accessible by car. In addition, Hoorn has a large number of parking lots located along the edge of the center. The following car parks are a good starting point for a city walk:
– Parking Schouwburg Het Park
– ABC parking / Juliana park
– Parking Pelmolenpad
– Parking ‘t Jeudje

Extensive information about parking and parking fees in Hoorn can be found on the site of the municipality of Hoorn.

Hoorn is probably best reached by boat. Hoorn is a fixed destination for various river cruises from various shipping companies. And for pleasure yachts Hoorn has four harbors with berths for passers-by. The largest port is the ‘Grashaven’. The cosiest and busiest is the old inner port.
